Toilet Overflow Leads to Residential Water Damage
An overflowed toilet at an Atlantic Beach residence caused the whole home to flood. Contaminated carpeting and base trim had to be removed before the structure could be dried out, per IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) standards. Toilet water contains bacteria and other contaminants you don't want touching your flooring or belongings. SERVPRO of The Beaches/Ponte Vedra was able to dry down the home completely in just a few days.
Water Damage Timeline, Hours 1 - 24:
- Drywall begins to swell and break down.
- Metal surfaces begin to tarnish.
- Furniture begins to swell and crack.
- Dyes and inks from cloth and paper goods spread and stain.
- A musty odor appears.
